Crighton Ridge Committees
Architectural Review Committee (ARC) – the current members (2008) of the ARC are Judy Weidner (Chair), Matt Paggioli, Larry Knigge, Wayne Pyle and John Dale. Decisions are reached by a majority vote of the members of the committee. For more information about the ARC, click on the ARC button on the sidebar at the left.
Newsletter Committee – the current members of the newsletter committee are Judy Weidner (Editor) and Meg Mendeck. Volunteers to serve on this committee are requested to e-mail the editor: Judy Weidner.
Neighborhood Watch - Our original planning committee of Neighborhood Watch has dwindled as people have moved or felt that they couldn't continue, so we're trying to reorganize this committee again. If you are/were interested in helping or continuing to be a block captain for a small number of houses in section 1, 2 or 3 please contact Meg Mendeck and let her know. We want to get this program going again, since it is a very effective way to make our community safer. Thank-you for your prompt response and remember it takes all of us to make this program successful, not just a hand full. Stickers for your cars are also available through Meg.
Deed Restriction Committee – the current members of the deed restriction committee are Larry Knigge, John Dale and Wayne Pyle. Those interested in volunteering to serve on this committee are requested to e-mail Larry Knigge.
Social Events – at present there are no members of this committee. Possible social events might include: Neighbors Night Out, Back to School, Fourth of July, Spring Park Clean Up, etc. (The annual Easter Egg Hunt is currently organized by the members of the Toddler Play Group.) Those interested in volunteering to serve on this committee are requested to e-mail Judy Weidner.
Stop the Toxic Wells Committee – this committee was formed in 2007 in response to the bid by TexCom to inject toxic waste into underground natural reservoirs near the junction of Creighton Road with highway 3083. The committee is widespread, encompassing members from many surrounding areas. Committee chairman for Crighton Ridge is Lisa Howard. For more information about this committee, visit the website www.stopthetoxicwells.com.
Feral Pig Committee – this committee was formed in 2006-2007 to address the problem of Feral Pigs in the community. Committee chairman was Carson Howard. Partly as a result of actions taken by the committee, the pigs are not currently active in Crighton Ridge, and the committee has disbanded until further need arises.
Water Committee – this committee was formed in 2003 to address the problem of water quality and quantity in Crighton Ridge. Committee chairman was Carol Holliday. In 2005, when the Homeowners Association came under residential control, the Water Committee became part of the Crighton Ridge Homeowners Association and board member Judy Weidner became primary representative. In March of 2005, Crighton Ridge joined with other communities and individuals to protest the AquaTexas raise in water rates. Hearings took place through 2006, and eventually a decision will be made by State Commissioners. The Water Committee is currently working towards the goal of having the City of Conroe buy out the CCN (certificate of convenience and necessity) from AquaTexas so that Conroe will become the water and service provider for Crighton Ridge.
Annexation Committee – this committee was formed in 2003, when Crighton Ridge received notification of possible annexation by Conroe in December 2003. Crighton Ridge residents wanted Conroe water service if they were to be annexed, but since Conroe did and does not hold the CCN for this area, it could not provide that service. After many hearings and discussions with Conroe City Council and Mayor Carter Moore, Conroe declined to annex Sections 1, 2, and 3 of Crighton Ridge, but did annex the portion of Crighton Ridge which is now Crighton Woods. Crighton Ridge residents pledged to voluntarily annex to Conroe in the event that Conroe obtains the CCN. The committee is no longer active, but former members remain available to help the water committee in obtaining its goal.
